NORMAL DOES NOT EXIST

A loud "FUCK YOU AND YOUR NORMAL” to sexism, misogyny, violence and all the other rotten shits of this world - A Poem About Fucking With the Norm by BERLINABLE author Jasika
NORMAL DOES NOT EXIST

NORMAL DOES NOT EXIST: Jasika is an author and activist from Malawi, fighting against FGM and for the liberation of women’s bodies.

Normal does not exist.

She writes for and about women, across several mediums.

In the dazzling poem, she draws a manifest against so-called normalcy and shows what our community stands for.

Author’s identity remains a secret for her own protection.

Normal does Not Exist

I had my second nude photoshoot about a month ago and I got some of the edits recently, there was this one picture with my roommate then and I fell in love and I wanted to plaster it everywhere ’cause it was such a fuck you picture how everything was a form of a protest against all the judgmental fucks who think they must have an opinion of other people’s lives and bodies.

But I cannot plaster it just yet because there’s thing that this stained society seems to uphold called normal.

In that dark umbrella of “normal” is homophobia, heterosexuality, slim fit but also thick with tiny waist and light skin but not white long dress but also sexy looking perfect bouncy Brazilian weave having manicured ambitious but not too much compliant women, sexism, misogyny, violence and all the rotten shits of this world.

And me, and my fellow “witches, prostitutes, mistresses, sluts” because that is what non-compliant angry feminists are called for standing up and saying “fuck you and your normal”.

Listen, normal, does not exist, it is just a word, normal is nonexistent, do not let them put you in that box, it is cold, dark, lonely and boring in that box they call normal.

Step out of line, piss them off, yes, anger them, infuriate them, make them bleed red with anger, they must feel it, it should burn when they see you strut your shit with a giant smile gliding in your free glory and your shine blinds them.
Normal, does not exist.
