Even in fiction, through complex scenes with layers of characterisation and emotion, the messages found in erotica can be the most evocative, the most stripped-back, the most raw.
In my erotica, I try to explore the honesty in sex, and most of my erotica has at least one ‘message’, whether that’s the political history of cum or describing a post-homoerotic sex scene using catholic language.
Erotica isn’t ‘dirty’ or ‘crass’, it can be, for sure.
But for me it’s the most unifying subject, and it provides a plethora of opportunities for reflection and observation. In them, I like to find the gems.”
